How often do I need to complete my DSL training?You must update your DSL training every 2 years, if your certificate has expired you will need to complete a new DSL course. When using MJS Safeguarding for DSL training we will notify you when your certificate is due to expire and aim to offer you a course prior to your certificate expiry.

Is DSL Supervision necessary?MJS Safeguarding believe that the most effective DSLs are supported by high quality and regular supervision. According to Keeping Children Safe in Education – “The role of the designated safeguarding lead carries a significant level of responsibility, and they should be given the additional time, funding, training, resources and support they need to carry out the role effectively.” And Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 states – “Effective practitioner supervision can play a critical role in ensuring a clear focus on a child’s welfare.”

How do we know how to challenge decisions made by other agencies?In the first instance it is crucial to find out your local safeguarding partnerships escalation process, this may be known as escalation/resolving disputes/resolving professional disagreements. When you have found this try to follow the process, however, we will always provide high quality advice for organisations as to how to make effective escalations.

We have carried out a review of our staff training and we haven’t covered a specific topic; what can we do?MJS Safeguarding will try to support with all of your training/CPD needs and will make every effort to deliver the training you need either face to face or online.
